Bojan Gorišek (1962) is the leading Slovenian pianist in the field of contemporary music and known around the world for recording the complete piano opus (10 CDs – more than 11 hours of music) of Erik Satie for the Blaricum Music Group from Amsterdam (Audiophile Classics), which was rated among the best recordings ever made. This is the most complete review of Satie’s piano compositions ever. Bojan Gorišek was for many years the exclusive recording artist of Blaricum Music Group.

He graduated from the Academy of Music in Ljubljana and continued his studies with one of the most important European specialists for contemporary piano music Herbert Henck in Köln.

During his career he worked with Luciano Berio, Vinko Globokar, Jane Manning, George Crumb, Henri Dutilleux, Irena Grafenauer, John Edward Kelly, David Harman, Walter Proost and others. As well with many orchestras and chamber groups as Percusion de Strasbourg and others at various venues around Europe (Germany, Italy, Finland, Spain, Austria, Sweden, the Netherlands, Swizerland, France, Portugal). Besides performing all over Europe (Musikferein - Wien, Vatroslav Lisinski - Zagreb, Cankarjev Dom – Ljubljana, Tiergarten Kirche, Fontane Haus - Berlin, Cite Internationale Des Arts, Musicora – Paris, Nybrokajen 11 - Stockholm), to name just a few, he often plays in the United States (Luisville Concert Hall, Merkin Hall – New York, Steinway Hall - New York, Kennedy Center - Washington), Venezuela (Teresa Carreno Concert Hall - Caracas), Columbia (Teatro Colon - Bogota), and China (Beijing Concert Hall), etc…

For Blaricum Music Group Bojan Gorišek, known for his interpretations of minimalist music, has beside the complete piano opus of Erik Satie, recorded 4 CDs of music by George Crumb, and the piano sonata ”Concord” by Charles Ives. He recorded the complete piano opuses of Marij Kogoj, Aldo Kumar, and Milko Lazar for various record companies in Slovenia. Milko Lazar and Aldo Kumar in fact each composed three piano concertos particularly for Bojan Gorišek, which were recorded and performed many times in Slovenia and abroad.

Most recently, he has impressed the musical world with his interpretations of Arvo Pärt and Philip Glass.

Bojan Gorišek won several awards for his work, including the most recent prestigious national award for art Nagrada Prešernovega sklada in 2006. He is now a professor for chamber music at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana.
