Biography Chevy Ford Band / Richard Murrey
What began as a few songwriter demos for Richard Murrey has become one of America's most diverse and prolific original virtual bands. Music for the thinkin' human being, with beats to rock the masses. Blending roots rock, blues, metal, country, reggae and funk into one of the most unique combinations of song stylings to be heard today. The Chevy Ford Band incorporates everything that makes for the finest modern music from Steely Dan meets Frank Zappa jammin' with Stevie Ray Vaughn backing the Doors with Carlos Santana! And that's just the beginning! The country influences blend the stylings of George Strait, Alan Jackson, Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, Montgomery Gentry, Sara Evans and a host of others. A blend of raw rock, drivin' blues, true country and fine art. Songwriter/Guitarist/Bassist Richard Murrey contacted Steven Cooper of Songwriter’s Studio in Nashville, Tennessee to produce a few country song demos. This led to project after project capturing a unique sound, giving birth to it’s own “band personae”. With Murrey on bass and Cooper on keyboards and drums, they teamed up with Jeff Jordan on guitar and James “Bubba” Hudson’s vocal artistry and rhythm guitar work to develop the core of the “Chevy Ford Band” sound while adding the vocal talents of Lorem Ipsum for female lead songs and duos. The blues/rock projects added the talents of John Heinrich on saxophone and drew heavily on the guitar talents of Jordan and the years of vocal experience and creative studio mastery of both Hudson and Cooper. Richard Murrey’s catalog of songs are showcased by some of the tightest, best produced music that awaits the world’s discovery.
Richard Murrey, is a multi-talented songwriter/bassist/guitarist. For over 30 years, he's played all over the southeast and out west with numerous country, rock and blues cover bands... sharpening his writing and playing chops all the while. Richard has penned and composed every song the band has produced except for "If Jesus wore shoulder pads", co-wrote with Cooper and "Wonderin'" which he co-wrote with his wife, Sheila. He loves laying down that "backline" so the song can breathe and take on it's own personality with Jordan's guitar work, Cooper's keys and Hudson's interpretations of lyrical expression. No ego here, just a pledge to make the song the center of attraction.
