Информация об исполнителе
For the last 10 years Chris Fraser (better known as Chris Fresh) has been a pre-eminent fixture on Australia’s clubbing landscape. One glance at a small selection of the international acts he’s played support to confirms the fact that Chris Fraser is a man on one very serious mission. Whether it’s Steve Lawler, Adam Freeland, the Plump DJs, Nick Warren, BT or The Prodigy, his ability to transcend genres (and do so triumphatly) has put him at the forefront every time a big name comes to town.
Progressing from radio to clubs when house made its first impressions in the late 80s, Chris now lives and breathes dance music on a 24/7 basis. He writes about it in his home city for the Canberra Times & inthemix.com.au, he promotes it through his massive "Twisted" dance party events, he talks about it on radio, and he plays it in the clubs.
As if that wasn’t enough, Chris then turned his hand to the studio with ever increasing recognition and success. Testament to this are his tracks featured on Pete Tong’s website, his contributions to dozens of compilation releases in Australia and abroad, national airplay of his tracks on Triple J (Australia’s only national youth radio network) and appearances by Chris on Channel [V]. All this, along with support from the likes of John Digweed, Sasha, Anthony Pappa, Danny Howells, Jimmy Van M & Satoshi Tomiie amongst others, demonstrates that Chris is fast laying claim to a well-earned position on the A-list of Australian producer/DJs.
So far it’s been a steady progression towards establishing a sound to call his own. From the deeper leanings of the prog smash ‘Lights Out’ to the more peaktime direction of his Vicious Vinyl work, Chris’s production range mirrors his scope behind the decks. Effortlessly progressing from deep percussive house to slamming futuristic progressive without losing any sense of perspective, his ability to constantly deliver forward thinking sets that push boundaries without confusing dancefloors makes him a progressive-minded DJ with a big room outlook.
Chris' North Atlantic project (through new Australian label EQ) has already caught the attention of the dance music world’s big guns, reaching what many consider the holy grail; a place within the confines of not only John Digweed’s but also Sasha’s record box. Yet Chris’s forthcoming release schedule will see even more milestones reached in the year ahead. A plethora of ‘Fresh’ new vinyl releases are bound for record boxes around the globe. This includes a single through Ministry Of Sound Australia’s new progressive offshoot ‘Compression’, which features on the latest ‘Club Nation’ CD, the menacing dark monster ‘Possession’ recently heard on Kasey Taylor’s Balance mix CD, ‘Mindfilter’ (the Satoshi Tomiie championed follow up to ‘Lights Out’), a massive re-working of Big Pig’s 80s anthem ‘Breakaway’ & many, many other projects in the pipeline.
Applying a distinctly masterful and technical approach to his DJing, Chris plays at clubs and dance parties all over Australia and New Zealand. Now with his latest string of international success, thanks to his awesome studio efforts, it’s time for Chris to descend on the dancefloors of the world as well.
