First Prize of viola and chamber music at CNSM in Paris in 1984. Christophe Gaugué was named Alto Solo of the Radio-France Philharmonic Orchestra in 1986.
He is currently Assistant Professor at CNSM in Paris, and has taught for 12 years at the CNR in Paris. He has appeared as a soloist with the Radio-France Philharmonic Orchestra in Harold in Italy by Berlioz under the direction of Serge Baudot, in Mozart's Symphonie Concertante under the direction of Marek Janowski, and most recently Peter Etvös asked him to play his work for viola solo, "Replica", under his direction, at the Cité de la Musique.
He participates in many music festivals (Luberon, Roque d'Anthéron, Saint-Lizier, Les Arcs, Montreux, Prée, Empéri, etc.), especially with the Trio Wanderer. Christophe Gaugué recorded "Trout Schubert, Brahms' Op.25 Quartet with the Wanderer Trio, and works for solo viola by Fénelon, Fervers, Stravinsky. In 2007, Christophe Gaugué played "Harold in Italy" in Stuttgart, Frankfurt, Köln, and Essen, under the direction of Myung-Whun Chung.
