Courtney Kaiser

Courtney's first solo was when she was 2 years old. She sang the song "Im a lonely little petunia in an onion patch, and all I do is cry all day!" Courtney studied classical opera from the 6th grade through college. She also studied world vocal music styles such as Hindustani style of Indian Classical music and southern African folk singing.

Courtney attended Interlochen Arts Academy for her last two years of high school. After graduating, she moved to Bloomington, IN and started the band Inivisble Jet. After a couple of years, the band decided to stop playing and she joined the power pop band The United States Three. Courtney played farfisa, and sang. Through United States Three, Courtney was introduced to Kenny Childers and the two started The Prom. Kenny and Courtney wrote all the songs and sang beautiful harmonies together. While in that band, Courtney and Kenny were invited to sing on a few songs on a John Mellencamp record. Upon that meeting, Courtney joined the John Mellencamp band and toured with him for three years.

She began working on her first solo record which would later be released on Benchmark Records. Courtney decided to move to the neighborhood of Red Hook in Brooklyn, NY. Since that move she has sung on The Wallflowers "Red Letter Days", and has sang with other great artists such as Yuka Honda, Sean Lennon, Petra Haden, and Michael McDermott. Courtney also has written songs and performed with a project band she and John Washburn formed under the name of Patina.

It is in New York City that she met Benjamin Cartel and formed the duo KaiserCartel in 2005. KaiserCartel is Courtney's main focus.
