Джоаккино Антонио Россини (итал. Gioachino Antonio Rossini; 29, 02, 1792 13, 11, 1868) итальянский композитор, автор нескольких десятков опер. Бразилия взяла оперу Россини в качестве основной музыкальной тем своего государственного гимна.
Россини родился 29 февраля 1792 г. в итальянском городке Пезаро. Его родителями были музыканты (отец трубач и валторнист, мать певица). С детства Джоаккино обучался пению, игре на чембало и скрипке, а также теории музыки. Обладая хорошим голосом, пел в церковных хорах, выступал как аккомпаниатор и дирижер хора в оперных театрах.

Gioachino Antonio Rossini (February 29, 1792 November 13, 1868) was a composer of 39 operas as well as sacred music, chamber music, songs, and some instrumental and piano pieces. He was born in Pesaro, Italy.
His best-known operas include the Italian comedies Il barbiere di Siviglia (The Barber of Seville) and La cenerentola and the French-language epics Moџse et Pharaon and Guillaume Tell (William Tell). A tendency for inspired, song-like melodies is evident throughout his scores, which led to the nickname "The Italian Mozart." Until his retirement in 1829, Rossini had been the most popular opera composer in history.
