Информация об исполнителе
Better Than Fiction, released Dec. 15, 2008, is Jenn Alexander's first album. She is a singer/song writer whose sound is in the genre of Sara Bareilles, Colbie Cailatt, Norah Jones, Carol King, Shania Twain, Sara Groves and Nichole Nordeman. The 12 original songs recorded in Nashville and Seattle offer a diverse amalgam of sound (youll hear elements of country, pop, R&B, rock and folk). Alexanders sassy, soulful and delightfully unpredictable lyrics are topped by her exceptional voice, which spans from low and mellow to bright and pure. Production and instrumentation (including slide guitar, mandolin, cello, violin, accordion, horns and organ) were tailored to communicate each song's unique sentiment and story.
Because some of her songs make reference to a life walked in faith, Jenn Alexander may fall under the umbrella of a "Christian artist" but listeners will find her lyrics and style to be distinctly different from the music typically associated with this label. Alexander dares to explore the complexities of faith, including her own journey as the mother of a child born with significant and ongoing health issues. The track "Pieces" is an authentic expression of how it feels to have the well planned image of your own life shattered and scattered on the floor. "Eyelashes", a song written for her son, encourages him to look the world straight in the eye, while reminding us all that the strength to do so comes from amazing grace.
Alexander has retained stylistic autonomy by producing this album independently. The collection includes several love songs, including her title track "Better Than Fiction" and the quirky, "Juno" esk tune, "Bagels". Several pieces are suitable for wedding venues. A brief description of the story behind each song is offered on the artist's web page at jennalexandermusic.com.
Jenn Alexander lives in Seattle, WA with her husband, Ryan, and 3-yr-old son, Cy. The artist studied music at Pacific Lutheran University in Washington, and St. Olaf College in Minnesota. She has a master's degree from Fuller Seminary. Alexander is a frequent speaker and performer at retreats and conferences. Listen now.
