Luis Di Matteo ( Montevideo , Uruguay - 1934), is a prominent bandoneon specialized in tango and classical music , and one of the greatest musicians Uruguayan international significance. After training in Uruguay and Argentina he moved to Germany, where he settled professionally acting and composing.
He learned to play the accordion from his father, working with him was very young. He finished his studies at the conservatory in his hometown, Montevideo (Uruguay). His interest in expanding their bondoneón studies took him to Buenos Aires in 1950, where he met Astor Piazzolla for the first time. Since 1956 and for seven years a member of the trio and orchestra Zagnoli Caesar . In 1962 he founded his first band, a trio with piano Trinchitella and Ruben de la Puente, who replaced Roberto Dionigi. The following year hires Darwin Viscuso (piano) and Nestor Hull (bass), acting on TV and making recordings with their own training and with other musicians. In 1980 he gave his first performances in Europe, where it has been touring regularly. Between 1983 and 1986 he collaborated with the Conservatory of Music in Detmold , Germany . In 1987 he wrote the music for the Swedish film Black Dawn ( The Owners of Silence ). He also had the opportunity to work and record with a string orchestra for the first time between 1990 and 1991. In the city of Ulyanovsk (where he was born Lenin ), he recorded his compositions authored with soloists camera Uljanowsk National Symphony Orchestra .
As a composer he has worked for various formations. Among others, he wrote a concerto for double bass and string orchestra, duets cello and violin, and also for violin and piano. Di Matteo does tours regularly in Europe. The last ten years has mainly worked for string quintet, saxophone quintet and also a project with four drummers traditional candombe . A commission of one of the most established classical festivals in Germany, the Schleswig Holstein Musikfest , brought him fame and recognition in the classical world.
