Информация об исполнителе
Mac and Katie Kissoon is a male / female vocal duo consisting of Mac Kissoon (born Gerald Farthing, 11 November 1943, in Port of Spain, Trinidad, West Indies) and Katie Kissoon (born Katherine Farthing, 11 March 1951, in Port of Spain).
The brother/sister combination was born in the West Indies and raised in Britain after moving there in 1962. They were two of eight children. Though they began as soloists, they are jointly best known for the 1970s hit singles they recorded as a duo:-
"Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep" (U.S. #20)
"Sugar Candy Kisses" (UK #3)
"Don't Do It Baby" (UK #9) 1975
"Like a Butterfly"
"The Two Of Us".
"Your Kiss is Sweet".
"Chirpy Chirpy Cheep Cheep" became a hit in Europe as performed by Middle of the Road. After their easy listening, bubblegum pop music career receded in the mid 1970s, both Kissoons were in demand as backing singers and session musicians.
Katie Kissoon's career in particular has continued strong as backup singer for such notables as Van Morrison (1978 and later), Eric Clapton (1986 and later), Roger Waters (since 1984), Elton John (1985), George Harrison (1991), Pet Shop Boys, (1994) and Robbie Williams (2002 and later). She was also a member of James Last's singers in the late 1970s, her brother Mac being there to this day.
In 2002, she appeared onstage at the Concert for George. In 2006-2007, she was also part of the back up section for Roger Waters' The Dark Side of the Moon Live world tour. The tour continues for 9 dates in 2008, but Katie will not be able to perform and will be replaced by Sylvia Mason-James. Katie Kissoon performed backup vocals on three tracks on Van Morrison's 2008 album, Keep It Simple and has sang with his band on several dates in 2008.
In 1997 Mac and Katie Kissoon released an album of new material called From Now On.
