Born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1976 and currently residing in Los Angeles, film composer Pedro Bromfman has been writing, playing and producing music professionally for over a decade. He graduated Cum Laude from Berklee College of Music, majoring in performance and composition, and went on to study film scoring at UCLA. A multi-faceted musician, Pedro has worked as a session musician, a producer and an arranger, before his passion for film scores brought him to Los Angeles.
Pedro started his professional career as a Jazz guitarist, playing and recording with some of the best musicians in Brazil. His desire to primarily perform his compositions and arrangements led him to create his own instrumental group. They went on to record Pedros debut album, the critically acclaimed and award winning Pe-de-Moleque. Pedro gained much recognition as the producer and musical director for P™-de-Moleque and was hired as a music producer for Unlimited Records, label distributed by Sony Music Brazil.
Since moving to Los Angeles, Pedro has worked extensively writing and producing music for Films, Documentaries, TV Shows, Trailers and Commercials. He has composed music for such companies as: Universal Pictures, 20th Century Fox, ABC, ESPN, National Geographic, Ant Farm, APM, Extreme Music, Sonoton, Rip Tide among others. Pedro Bromfman created jingles for several ad campaigns including commercials for BMW, BlueCross BlueShield, Max Havelaar and music for trailers like "Robots" (20th Century Fox).
Pedro Bromfman has recently composed the score for an ESPN documentary on Brazilian soccer player Pel™, the documentary "Dias de Luta" produced by Local B Films, an independent feature entitled "Between The Lines", "The Oprah Winfrey Show", the 35mm short "Rosa" nominated for best score at the Action On Film Festival, as well as creating the music for a series of Nokia videos and screen savers.
Pedro's latest project has quickly become a Brazilian phenomenon. He composed the score and produced tracks for "Tropa de Elite" a feature film directed by Jos™ Padilha. "Tropa de Elite" will be distributed worldwide by the Weinstein Co. in 2008.
