Информация об исполнителе
The Hourglass is a symphonic - gothic - industrial metal band, formed by Alma Vomastek (vocals, keyboards, songwriting, lyrics), Bogdan Mara (drums) and Vlad Negrea (guitars), in the city of Cluj-Napoca, Romania. The band's name represents the idea that everything that has a beginning, also has an end.
The band started as a studio project, recording a 5 songs demo. The goal of The Hourglass was to create a new sound by combining different genres, so, after many musical experiments, the band's sound crystallized into a blend of heavy guitars and strong rhythms. These were combined with symphonic and industrial keyboards and a classical soprano voice. A symphonic - industrial mixture arose, with a pinch of gothic and electro.
On the 31st of December 2011, right before the new year, The Hourglass released online it's first, self - produced studio material, a 5 song demo EP "Requiem" that represents a mixture of harmonies and styles. The demo material was welcomed by radio stations and the media, in Europe and in the US. With Ioana Dirva (keyboards) and Mircea Petreus (bass) joining the crew, everything was ready for the upcoming live events.
April of 2012 marked the first live show of the band, played in Cluj-Napoca as the opening band for Theatres des Vampires from Italy. It was a great start, very well received by the public. In the same year, after several concerts in Romania, The Hourglass traveled to Germany for the first time and played a show in Muenster in front of a packed house of 400 people. As soon as the first song began, people rose from their seats and started cheering. Towards the end of the concert, more than 50 people climbed on benches and danced and headbanged there. It was a great success, 1700 km away from home.
Two years later, The Hourglass released their debut album, "Through Darkness and Light", with almost one hour of music and 11 tracks. The CD was very positively reviewed and gets a lot of airplay from independent radio stations.
After more concerts in Romania and Germany, The Hourglass shared the stage with legends like Therion and Eluveitie, at the famous ARTmania festival in Sibiu, Romania.
The fall of 2014 finds The Hourglass with a steady line-up that is surely ready to rock: Alma Vomastek (vocals), Ioana Dirva (keys), Cristian Florea (bass), András Ádám (guitar), Bogdan Mara (drums).
