Информация об исполнителе
London based hit makers.
Originally envisioned as a one-off studio project for singer-songwriter Matthew Julian, The Speedways became a full band just weeks before their legendary first gig, at the Some Weird Sin Pump It Up Powerpop Weekender in summer 2018. The debut album "Just Another Regular Summer" showcased as deeper, more personal take on the powerpop genre than their contemporaries, with their self-styled "Ronettes punk" blending elements of Tom Petty, Phil Spector and the Exploding Hearts within 12 unforgettable songs of heartbreak and longing.
Further live dates in the UK with the likes of the Fleshtones, the Zeros and Protex cemented their growing reputation as London's latest powerpop sensations, while 2019 saw them embark on some rapturously-received Spanish dates, taking the message abroad for the first time.
Featuring members past and present of Los Pepes, the Godfathers and Dead Meat, the Speedways live have received comparisons with Elvis Costello & the Attractions at their spiky "This Year's Model" best.
A sold-out 7" single featuring a stirring cover of Kirsty MacColl's classic "They Don't Know" whetted appetites for the first full-length album featuring the band, due in the first half of 2020.
