Thierry HUILLET Born on 21 July 1965 in Toulouse, France French pianist and composer. In 1987, Huillet won First Prize at the Cleveland Internation al Piano Competition, USA.
He also met with success in several further competitions, such as the Busoni International Piano Competition (1985 and 1994) and Tokyo (1989). Thierry Huillet has been invited to play as a soloist with Symphonic Orchestras around the world: the Cleveland Orchestra, RAI Orchestra, Tokyo Symphony, Romanian Radio’s Orchestra, to name a few . He has also performed with his native country’s orchestras: Orchestre Philharmonique de Lille, Ensemble Orchestral de Paris, Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, Orchestre de Ch ambre de Toulouse, Orchestre des Pays de Loire.
He started playing the piano in Toulouse, with Simone Sabatier , pupil of Wilhem Kempff . He was then spotted by Pierre Sancan, with whom he spent four intense and invaluable musical years at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Paris , where he also moved on to a third advanced cycle with Germain Mounier .
He attended master classes with Paul Badura - Skoda and Leon Fleischer, which enrich ed his music al journey. At 24 , he took a break from the concert circuit, living in the Pyrenees for a few years. Without bei ng aware of it at the time, he wa s looking for his second and richest musical path: musical creation .
From there on, writing music became a necessity . In 1994, in Moscow, he met his wife - to - be , Clara Cernat , Romanian violinist and violist. With Clara Cernat, he returned to the concert hall and studio , and record ed several CDs and DVDs , performing works of George Enescu , Joaquin Turina, Ernest Bloch, Franz Liszt, Camille Sa int - Saëns, Ernest Chausson and others. The duo’s perfomances have taken them around the world : Hanoï Opera House, Lisbon’s Palacio Foz , the National Center for the Performing Arts in Beijing, Teatro Coliseo in Buenos Aires, Théâtre de la Monnaie in Brussels, the Cecilia Meireles Concert Hall in Rio de Janeiro, S alle Gaveau and Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris...
They have given many recitals in Japan, China, the USA, Vietnam, Brazil, Libya, Romania, Croatia, Sl ovenia, Belgium, Spain, France, Argentina, Peru, Uruguay, Italy,Greece... They have also performed in international festivals , such as the French Instit ute’s “Festival Crois ements” in China and the Enescu Festival.
