The Czech chamber ensemble Trio Bohémo began to rack up major prizes within months of its founding in 2019, even before completing its training. Despite interruptions in concert schedules due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the group appeared at major concert halls and festivals in continental Europe and Britain. Trio Bohémo has continued to win honors at major events such as the prestigious ARD International Music Competition in Germany. The ensemble made its recording debut in 2024 with an album of trios by Smetana and Schubert. Trio Bohémo was formed in Budapest, Hungary, in 2019 and named for Bohemia, the historical designation of the Czech region. That year, the ensemble entered the Gianni Bergamo Award competition in Lugano, Switzerland, and won second prize. The group members are pianist Jan Vojtek (piano), violinist Matouš Pěruška, and cellist Kristina Vocetková. Trio Bohémo soon began to find important bookings, such as those of the Le Dimore del Quartetto concert network headquartered in Milan, Italy, which in 2021 designated the trio Ensemble of the Year. All this occurred as the trio was continuing its training under the European Chamber Music Academy rubric. The group took masterclasses from Hatto Beyerle, Johannes Meissl, Patrick Jüdt, and Avedis Kouyoumdjian. By the mid-2020s, Trio Bohémo had made appearances at such major halls as Musikverein in Vienna, Wigmore Hall in London, and Stoller Hall in Manchester, England. The group has also performed at numerous festivals, including the Prague Spring, the Schwarzwald Musikfestival in Germany, and Festival van Vlaanderen in Ghent, Belgium. It continued to win important honors such as first prize and the audience prize at the International Johannes Brahms Competition in Austria and first prize, the prize for the best interpretation of a work by Haydn at the International Joseph Haydn Chamber Music Competition in Vienna. In 2024, Trio Bohémo released its debut album on the Supraphon label, featuring piano trios by Smetana and Schubert.
