Jörn-Uwe Fahrenkrog-Petersen ("Uwe") is a keyboard player and songwriter, known for his work with the German rock group Nena.
Born in Berlin he first played in a band called "Vanguard"in 1977 - 1979 with bassist Sven Bode, Guitarist Fritz... and drummer Didier, composing an amazing Rock Opera. Concerts where conducted with compelling artistic video projections from a young french artist. Joachim Schneiderdrums, later replaced Didier in 1978. Uwe was joining the band "Odessa" in 1980 with bassist Jürgen Dehmel. The two joined Nena in 1981 and played with the group until 1987. When the band split, he moved to New York.
There, he formed a band called VoodooX (as keyboard player and backing vocalist) with Jean Beauvoir (formerly of The Plasmatics and Little Steven's Disciples of Soul). Their one album release was "Vol. 1: The Awakening" (1989). When the band split, Uwe went back to Berlin.
In 2001, he composed the soundtrack for the movie All the Queen's Men.
In 2002, he also composed the soundtrack for the film Igby Goes Down.
He is also a regular in various mini TV projects in Germany. His family live in Berlin.
Uwe's brother Lutz, who is two years younger, also played with Nena, usually while touring.
He has recently, since Nena's comeback with "Nena feat. "Uwe"", been helping Nena in her solo career. Many people think they are a great duo.
In 2006 he produced part of singer Kim Wilde's comeback album Never Say Never, which reached the top 20 in most European countries.
In 2011, he joined with former Modern Talking lead singer Thomas Anders as a new pop duo Anders|Fahrenkrog. The duo released a single "Gigolo" on May 27, followed by the album "Two" on June 10.
