Contravening musical frontier, Under Ubi's Tree is an expedition through the experiences of Australian born multi-instrumentalist and composer Nathan Riki Thomson, who spent a great proportion of his life working on community projects in Tanzania, there affirming his fascination for African melody and rhythm.
Ubi Zawose, the father of Nathan's mentor Hukwe, didn't know how old he was, although it was estimated he had long since reached his 90s. He would sit in solitude in the shade of an old tree, playing music and dancing for hours on end. Under Ubi's Tree is the celebration of these memories, the places and the people in Thomson's adventurous life so far.
