With their 2005 single "Big City Life," Marlon Roudette and his band Mattafix enjoyed a number one hit in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and New Zealand. After only two albums, however, Mattafix broke up, and in 2011 Roudette presented his first solo album with Matter Fixed -- whose title already shows that much of the record isn't too far removed from his former band's pop-oriented mixture of reggae music and trip-hop beats. The first single, "New Age," was another number one hit in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, helped by the fact that it was featured on the soundtrack of Matthias Schweighöfer's hit romantic comedy What a Man. Throughout the album, Roudette takes elements from dubstep ("Storyline"), blues ("Closer"), reggae ("Brotherhood of the Broken"), and rap ("Riding Home"), and turns the results into radio-friendly summer pop. The record debuted at number six in the German album charts.
