On June 27 2011, his debut album I Don't Want To Be An Emperor, is released by the young record label Bellring, available on Bandcamp and online music stores. From the dancing This Old Tune to the Abstract Hip Hop oriented The Chord Cracker through the cinematic June, it reflects a diverse consistency ! With each of the tracks having a particular mood and orchestration the album is rich with colors and influences from many music styles but keeps the authenticity of a truly personal and creative recording.
He received good feedbacks from listeners and professionals, being compared to such artists as The Herbaliser, DJ Shadow, Wax tailor or Bonobo (cf Reviews). Listens and followers became quickly numerous on SoundCloud, Last.fm, Jango, Facebook, Twitter, Youtube...
His remix of Electric Eyes by Metaform was voted No. 3 by the listeners on December 2010 and his remix of Ping by Hauschka was voted No. 2 at the Fat Cat Records Contest on July 2011.
Since July 2011, Hugo Kant works on the live set with two other musicians: Loïc Marmet (drums, percussions, laptop) and Guillaume Cros (guitar, laptop). The first gigs are planned for October 2011.
