Forever Reigning is a 2022 tribute to Slayer compilation.
"A Tribute To Slayer" is the debut release from American entertainment media
company Satyrn Studios, featuring twelve cover versions of classic Slayer songs,
by an array of up and coming metal bands.
Slayer, formed in 1981, are recognised as one of heavy metals greatest ever
bands, helping to found and shape the sound and direction of the thrash metal
genre, with their 1986 album "Reign In Blood" regarded as a pivotal release in
the genres history. Quintessential listening for any metal fan, "Reign In
Blood" is the gold standard of thrash, with many bands citing the album as a
number one influence to become musicians.
Throughout a thirty six year recording career, Slayer have released twelve
albums, numerous singles and music videos, appeared on a high number of movie
soundtracks - including Gremlins 2: The New Batch (1990), Bride Of Chucky
(1998), and Saw III (2006) - and have had songs appear on the music video games
Guitar Hero, Rocksmith, and Rock Band.
The majority of songs featured on this compilation are taken from the earlier
part of Slayer's career, namely the bands first five albums - "Show No Mercy"
(1983), "Hell Awaits" (1985), "Reign In Blood" (1986), "South Of Heaven" (1988),
and "Seasons In The Abyss" (1990).

In Blood's re-imagining of "Bloodline" to Skull Fuckers Incorporated rendition
of "Raining Blood", each cover packs a hefty punch.
Forever Reigning - A Tribute To Slayer is a dynamic collaboration drawing
artists together through their adoration of Slayer's work. Comments Jay Reiter,
executive producer of Satyrn Studios "it's been fun and challenging to both
learn the songs I did, but also put my own twist onto the songs (while) keeping
it true to the originals".
Overall, a weighty tribute album celebrating one of metals pioneering thrash
metal bands - Slayer.
Ripper's Notes:
The very first time I ever ripped to FLAC was to fill a request for a live
album who's sound quality was so bad, I wanted to rip it losslessly to prove
that I didn't somehow badly fuck up the rip.
The sound quality of this one is just fine, but, damn, take a look at those
scans, my 4 year old could have done a better job cutting straight, and he's
too young for scissors. Like that live CD from years ago, even if I didn't
already include full scans, I would have done so this time, just to show you
how badly a new label borked this release.
That being said, none of these songs are an embarrassment, and none hold a
candle to the originals, but, "At Dawn They Sleep" and "Raining Blood" are both
truly excellent.
