Jhauk was infamous as a child for receiving various forms of head trauma. He is now a composer and multi-instrumentalist living in Sheffield.
His compositional journey started at age 10 on the now legendary Top of the Pops Mix Factory 2 for Windows 98. By his teens he was playing drums and guitar whilst writing for metal bands.
His first proper foray into writing electronic music came via trance, before his brother Drew returned from his first year at uni and introduced him to drum & bass.
This was when "Kinetics" was born. Described by anonymous commenter 'parad01x' as the "peak of dnb", Jhauk's original liquid dnb moniker went on to amass ~750,000 streams across all platforms in the heyday of the DIY YouTube promotional scene.
Before too long though, dnb started to feel claustrophobic. And after a lengthy metamorphosis, which included attaining a masters degree in electronic music composition and overcoming a severe panic disorder, the caterpillar of Kinetics emerged as the comely butterfly of Jhauk.
Jhauk's sound today treads a line between drum & bass, jazz fusion, prog, metal, and folk. He writes, programs and performs everything himself, preferring to agonisingly record 200 guitar takes than just speak to someone who's better than him. Read more on Last.fm
