His career spans over two decades and hes played with and opened up for artists like Buddy Miles, Billy Branch, Larry McCray and Lonnie Brooks. Blues legend Brooks says Jimmy Warren is one hell of a player. Jimmy is a powerful guitarist with a great bluesy feel, adds Bruce Iglauer of Alligator Records.
A talented guitarist with a unique style, Warren blends the best of blues, jazz and rock into a unique sound thats difficult to describe. Chuck Rainey, bassist for Steely Dan, says Warren is a super smooth guitarist. In 2009, he released Live at Last on Vision Records and No More Promises on Electro Glide Records in 2010, blues CDs which have been re-released on High Tone Music Group. His instrumental, Would You, appeared in the 2009 motion picture, The Vision.
In 2011, Warren released another blues CD, Blues Aint So Bad, and a contemporary jazz CD, Addington Express, both on the High Tone Music Group label. He plans to release The Big Screen, an instrumental CD for licensing featuring various genres, and Guitar Bone Jones, a rock instrumental on High Tone in early 2012.
Not only is Warren a talented guitarist, but also a composer, engineer and producer. Hes the owner of High Tone Music Group, representing 20 artists in the blues/jazz/rock genres. Hes endorsed by six major companies: EMG pickups, Graph Tech guitar labs, Dean Markley strings, Nikita custom guitars, Hayes amplifiers and Big Bends string savers.
His music has been aired in 12 countries on 500 radio stations. Warren has performed at a variety of venues including the NAM show in Los Angeles, California; a showcase for the Blues Music Awards in Memphis, Tennessee; the Rialto Theater in Joliet, Illinois; Six Flags in Gurney, Illinois; B.B. Kings in Memphis, Tennessee; Biscuit and Blues in San Francisco, California and Buddy Guys Legends in Chicago, Illinois. Jimmy Warren is as good as it gets, said David Reuben of Guitar Edge Magazine.
Although Jimmy Warren has built a reputation as a versitile guitarist with the ability to cross genre lines. He has always kept one foot firmly in the blues. Since his early days as a side man for Chicago greats like Buddy Scott, Little Mack Simmons, Left Dizz and Nate Turner, Warren has continued to front his solo act the "Jimmy Warren Band."
Jimmy's solo career started in the late 1980's with the release of his debut self released CD "Coyote Ugly." After a long break from music in 2009 Warren signed with Vision Records in Nashville to release "Live At Last." A live EP of original material that showcased a guitar heavey blues fell and sound. In 2010 Warren was joined by blues legend Bob Margolin to release "No More Promises." Although "No More Promises" was not a a full blues CD and featured some pop/rock crossovers, it was aired in 12 countries and received great reviews.
In September 2011 The Jimmy Warren Band recorded their thrid release on the High Tone Music Group titled the "Blues Ain't So Bad." This release is a retuned to the blues that has influenced Warren since his early days. Warren stated, "This release is a tribute to all the blues styles that influenced me over the years and made me the player I am today." Everything from country blues, contemporary blues and standard blues shuffles, the "Blues Ain't So Bad" release covers the whole nine yards of blues.
The Jimmy Warren Band continues to tour on occaision and is in the studio recording their fourth CD to be released and titled in 20102. The Jimmy Warren Band has perfomred at legendary venues like: Biscuits & Blues, Arcadia Blues Club, Rosa's Lounge, The Rialto Theatre, BB Kings and Buddy Guys Legends. Over the past three years the JWB has performed with: Lonnie Brooks, Larry McCray, Billy Branch, Chris Beard and many other blues legends.
