Katherine Penfold

Katherine Penfold has made her mark on many stages throughout Canada over the last 10 years with her breathtaking sense of tone and expression.

Originally from Nova Scotia, Katherine began her career at the age of 13, singing Celtic/Folk music at coffee houses and local stages around Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Through the years she developed her passion for a variety of musical genres covering Funk/R&B with the well-known NuPhunk Orchestra, and Jazz with New York pianist, Michael Cain, as she studied at Brandon University.

With inspiringly soulful originals under her arm, Katherine has paved her way into the hearts of music lovers and musicians such as Walle Larsson (Winnipeg Saxophonist), Ron Paley (Composer/Pianist) and other artists throughout Canada. After winning $25,000 in the 2007 GrooveFM Singer/Songwriter Competition, Katherine completed her all-original album, Journals, and went on to write and record for GrooveFM's Groove Lounge Volumes One and Two.

Katherine has just released her second album, Live at The Park, which features a stable of Winnipegs finest musicians and captures the electric atmosphere shared by over 200 Winnipeggers earlier this year. Both Live at The Park and Journals are available on iTunes and online at www.katherinepenfold.ca. Now with two albums and more music on the way, Katherine is breaking into the Adult Contemporary scene throughout central Canada and in her new home, Vancouver.
