Lily, born Saeko Kamada on February 17, 1952, is a Japanese singer- songwriter and an actress, known for her folk and blues style and distinct husky voice.
Lily released her first album Tamanegi from Toshiba EMI in 1972. In 1974, she gained wide recognition when her single Watashi wa Naiteimasu sold 970,000 copies, becoming a big hit. During her EMI years she also performed as a bassist in the Bye Bye Session Band alongside renowned musicians Masami Tsuchiya and Takasuke Kida from The Jacks.
In 1982, she transferred to Victor Entertainment, but would soon suspend her activities due to marriage and the birth of her first son. She returned to music industry in 1999 by forming the folk duo Lily-Yoji with Yoji Saito.
Besides writing and performing music, Lily has also acted in numerous films and dramas, including Kakashi, Linda Linda Linda, and Aoi Tori.
Her son JUON is a member of the rock band FUZZY CONTROL.
