At the age of 15, he blagged his way into some regular pub work at weekendsDJ-ed an under 18s night at a local nightclub, and at 16 took an interest in a local radio station Radio Freedom and for 2 years running was involved in production and presenting. Through this, met his good friend Jason ‘Littleman’ Molloy who was at the time, working for Northern Leisure. Nicky soon became Jason’s warmup and unofficial Lightjockey and it kinda spiralled from there!
Nicky’s first ‘big’ gig was Genesis in Chesterfield, leading onto The Beach Bar and then Gas St Nightclub in Rugby and onto the newly refitted Time & Diva in Newark.
Since then, he’s continued to work in clubs across the UK, playing many different styles from 70s/80s/90s to chart, dance, indie, rnb, ukfunky, drum n bass…….. and anything else he can slip in!
He’s also been heavily involved in radio (under his real name) & have had the privelege to present the breakfast show at www.ambersoundfm.com along with radio veteran Glyn Williams and later with Kate Frost. The station broadcasts across North Derbyshire 24hours a day, 7 days a week and is still going strong.
After a short stint presenting the request show from 10am weekdays, Nicky’s schedule has now forced him to put his broadcasting efforts on the back burner… but watch this space.
Club XS in Kettering with DJ Littleman and lightjock Paul?The derby mobile disco has also evolved and is still available for hire – see www.derbymobilediscos.co.uk – this year (2011) they’ve expanded this business to cater for larger, corporate events & complete venue light & sound management for weddings. Working closely with www.mgnevents.co.uk
Since Nicky’s humble begginings in 1999, he’s now had the opportunity to work some amazing clubs across the UK and work with artists such as Example, Wretch 32, Mista Jam, Edith Bowman, S Club, Joel Corry, Rudimental, DJ Fresh, Frankie Cocozza and many more!
