Outstanding among the latest sensations of Parisian jazz is the sensual, honeyed voice of the singer Sarah Lenka, winner of the prestigious SACEM Award the French equivalent of the American Grammy for the New Voice of 2007 and christened by the delighted critics as the new French jazz singer, a real honour for a performer who says she sings inspired by Bessie Smith and Billie Holliday. In her prolific career, she has performed successfully at venues in the French capital and has also opened for Taj Mahal.
