Thomas Torstrup Quartet

The Thomas Torstrup Quartet is led by pianist, organist and composer Thomas Torstrup, who was educated on the famous Jazz course at Trondheim University. His recording debut was the poetic 2014 album Snøkorn, which he made with Hanna Paulsberg (sax), Trygve Fiske (bass) and Tore Sandbakken (drums). He has also worked on exciting, cross-genre organ projects with John Pål Inderberg, Martin Högberg and Heidi Skjerve for the albums Still (2017) and Selbu Sessions (2018). He is accompanied in the Thomas Torstrup Quartet by Simen Kiil Halvorsen (trumpet), Stian Andersen (bass) and Ivar Assheim (drums). Together they mainly perform Thomas’ original compositions inspired by American jazz traditions, sacred music and Olivier Messiaen.
