Hailing from a hometown thats better known for what it rhymes with than its music scene, Weak At Best are one of a handful of bands that are starting to put Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada on the musical map. Their tight and energetic live performances made the group a band to watch in emo-rock circles with the release of their second album A Nightmare & A Fairytale.

Their blend of insanely catchy indie-rock and incessant touring have put the band in the position where their growing legion of fans makes every show feel like a date in their hometown. In the last year, Weak At Best has released their second full-length on Gig Records (an indie label from NJ), toured the Eastern US, and has toured Canada twice.

All things considered, the band has come a long way from its inception during the high school days of vocalist/guitarist Jim Demeray and percussionist Danny Elder. Getting their start creating punked-out versions of 90s pop hits, the band solidified their lineup a couple years later when Devan Sperlie (bass) joined the group in 2000. This lineup created and recorded the material that would make up the bands first album Made To Break, which has sold over 2000 units with very little promotion.

After a previous attempt at finding a second guitarist failed, the band managed to persuade long time hardcore guitarist (in Indignance) Riley Agopsowicz to join the group in fall 2003.

The results have been nothing but positive. Agopsowiczs presence and influence has benefited the band by helping the group perfect their now mature sound. Influenced by bands like Brand New, New Found Glory, Saves The Day, Boys Night Out, and bevy of other great musicians, Weak At Best are great at creating music that is unique, yet has a feel-good familiar feel to it.

Their live show transcends this feeling, usually causing the crowd to dance to the music with huge smiles on their face while singing along. Their high-energy show keeps those in attendance at full attention, though its not at the musics expense.

As for A Nightmare & A Fairytale, the group has created an album that will undoubtedly please many a listener. Filled with songs with sound that are pure energy and unregulated passion expressed through hooky choruses and distorted amps, Weak At Best have exceeded expectations. Engineered and produced by Blair Calibaba (Gob, Sum 41, Belvedere, Filmmaker, etc.) the album is an honest growth for a band that has had to earn respect in a town known for its affinity for metal.

Unfortunately, the band disbanded in 2004 for personal reasons.
