He recorded another track for that album in February 2010 called "Back from Cali", making him the only guest on the record to sing on more than one song on its standard track listing. On February 3, 2010, Slash announced on his Facebook page, "Also, I want to announce that Myles Kennedy is going to be fronting the band for the upcoming tour. Something I'm really stoked about. Myles sang a killer track on the record & I think he is by far one of the best Rock & Roll singers out there today. I'm really honored & proud to be working with him." Kennedy is currently touring with Slash, where he performs a number of Guns N' Roses, Velvet Revolver, and Slash's Snakepit songs, as well as Slash solo material and an Alter Bridge cover ("Rise Today").
As of late July of 2010, the tour as been promoted as "Slash featuring Myles Kennedy". In June 2010, it was announced that the show at the Manchester Academy in Manchester, England on July 3, part of the 2010 World Tour, would be recorded and released on CD. Only 1,200 copies of the album were made available with 350 being sold after the show itself. The album, titled Live in Manchester, was recorded, mixed and mastered "on-the-fly" during the show by Abbey Road Live. This type of recording differs from a “board” mix, which usually involves plugging into the house sound console and taking their mix, with the album quality closer to a studio mixed live album. Kennedy will later appear on an acoustic version of "Back from Cali" plus an acoustic version of the Guns N' Roses song "Sweet Child o' Mine" for the deluxe version of Slash. This makes Kennedy the artist with the most amount of tracks featuring him on the entire album, at a total of four. Slash has recently discussed in an interview during the 2010 Sunset Strip Music Festival the possibility of doing a collaboration record with Kennedy in the future. At the music festival, Kennedy performed "Paradise City" with Slash and Fergie. |
