Guitar Republic is the new solo-duo-trio concert by Sergio Altamura, Stefano Barone and Pino Forastiere: music in the widest sound spectrum you may imagine, from the pure acoustic guitar sound to experimental electronics. Rock, improvisation, minimalism, mediterranean colors and rhythms are performed on the same stage by three different citizens of the same Guitar Republic.

A disk of guitar not to be eavesdroped like a guitar disk.

I must suppose what at the beginning I was a little forestalled. I am tied to a traditional conception and fundamentally melodic of the acoustic guitar, nevertheless recognising and appreciating how for many they are looking, being able in it, new runs, new technical solutions and new sonority. I have decided to approach, then, the listening of this first work of the trio formed by Sergio Altamura, Stefano Barone and Pine Forastiere with simplicity and preconceptions do not create for me, with the free mind, having to associate their music while I was writing to the PC. I have been surprised several times with the fixed eyes on the protection and with the fingers that were not going any more on the keyboard, I stock in the listening of the passages of Guitar Republic.
Completely I have thought unless to the guitar.
So, the musical associations and not that have come to mind to me during the listening might look (and perhaps there are it) inconsistent, inappropriate, to say not much absurd, but they seem how representative to me of each one of nine passages that compose the CD, a way as an other to describe the tried sensations.
Original and amusing the decision that has always led to insert into the headlines a reference to “Republic“ or to “GR“, a continuous game of words as to want to clinch the compactness, the uniformity and also the definition of this trio to put itself as an alone thing.
”GR Airport”: waiting for the flight that at the Brazil leads to the Land of Rising Sol, between the haste of the people and the schedules of arrivals and departures that are chased.
”Funky Sex Republic”: vague echoes hendrixiani with 'princely' veins (I would not know how better to refer to the Minneapolis sprite!).
”Republic Avenue”: a Piazzolla flavoured by rhythms tribali.
”Radio Republic”: to remember what it is possible still to meet on the road than Paris given to the Texas.
”Ghetto Republic”: it is returned to the rhythms funky, crossing in night dark and silent lanes.
”Moon Park Republic”: obsessive, hammering like the blood pumped in the temples after a run on the Russian mountains.
”GR Station”: remembering Hackett picked by sudden nostalgia, the carillon that does not wait for you after an evening of amusements.
”TCLD GR”: an obstinate, insistent, ritual dance, in company of the witches in the light of the fires.
”The Rite of the Republic”: visionary and oneiric with his interlacements and the tried voices.
A ripe product, at which the great work is perceived unwound to amalgamate different sounds of three Martin D-28, for the care had in the agreements, for the reached concord, with Sergio Altamura who characterises several compositions with his unusual sonority, Stefano Barone who covers – between so many people – the list of electronic one of the group, and Pine Forastiere – the most traditionally modern three, which his great technique puts to the service of others chitarristica.

At the end, a great curiosity remains to you: how will it be at the living one?
