With sound design & production by Lustmord and guitar & vocals by King Buzzo of the Melvins, Juggernaut unleashes four tracks worth of menacing ambient tremors, boomeranged drones and ominous sonic moonscapes in swell after unsettling swell of creeping electronic deviance. Initially recorded for an art opening by hot-rod enthusiast/notorious tit man Chris "Coop" Cooper in August 2004, this version of the Juggernaut collaboration is a limited release and an updated version of the original recording.
Four tracks of supremely sinister subterranean ambient gloom from darkside sound designer Lustmord and The Melvins' King Buzzo, who lends vocals and guitar to this unfathomably bleak album. First up is 'Erie' a barely audible subwoofer rumble which builds up thanks to a gathering storm of sonic vapours. Next up, 'Prime' introduces Buzzo's jagged guitar riffing, and later some rhythmic, respiratory electronic swells. 'Able' is the most overtly metal-influenced of all the pieces here, bringing higher volume noise exploits to the mix. Album closer 'Item' is the pick of the bunch though, fusing brooding violins with cloudy bottom-heavy drone. It's eleven minutes of big black emptiness, which incrementally gathers steam, coming to a head midway with the spoken refrain "Better to rein in Hell than to serve in Heaven" chanted over a crackling industrial ambience. Definitely one for KTL fans, Juggernaut is another superb example of ambient electronics meeting doom metal in a mighty head-on collision.
