For our Classical Gold Series, our remastering process involves the use and restoration of the original master tapes. Through our High Resolution Technology(tm), we are able to accomplish a clear transparency and dynamic range. Attention to detail is the key factor during the entire process. Every attempt has been made to correct flaws on the master due to the period's technical limitations or just simple tape deterioration. Our superior analog to 20 bit digital conversion takes place with 128 times oversampling, utilizing custom made components. Unnatural compression, audible edits and severe electronic or static noises are improved or eliminated when possible without ever compromising the sonic integrity of the original master tapes. Frequency spectrum and dynamic range is also improved. The final result is a true picture of the recording transferred to the final CD which does not require any decoding device in order to let the listener enjoy the benefits of our High Resolution Technology(tm).
When the virtues of High Resolution Technology(tm) are used in tandem with the improved optical capabilities of gold format discs, the listener will be virtually transported back to the recording site! The classical remasterings will reveal information from the master tapes that have been heretofore unheard - masked by noise, and a general veiling of the sound. On our new recordings, the Gold Series discs will be a truly revelatory experience. The gold discs offer improved soundstage/imaging precision, and a greater sense of "air" over their aluminum counterparts. The Chesky Gold Series discs are destined to become audiophile classics.
