The artwork says. . .
Breaking The Chains is the debut studio album by American heavy metal
band Dokken. It was originally released in Europe as Breakin' The Chains
on the French label Carrere Records, in 1981 under the band name Don
Dokken. This version contains different mixes (Zoloft: and clearly, in
some cases, different recordings) and titles of songs from the later U.S.
edition. "Paris Is Burning" is called "Paris", and is actually a studio
version as opposed to the live recording in Berlin from December 1982.
The album also contains a song called "We're Illegal", which later turned
into "Live To Rock (Rock To Live)"
The lineup on the recordings consisted of:
Don Dokken (Vocals, Rhythm Guitars)
Juan Croucier (Bass, Backing Vocals)
Mick Brown (Drums, Backing Vocals)
George Lynch (Lead Guitars)
Whilst Juan Croucier is credited as the bassist on the album, Don Dokken
has since said that Peter Bates actually performs all the bass on this
record.
Ripper's Notes:
There have been a number of bootleg releases of the original version of
Breakin' The Chains over the years, with varying quality. This is the best
with no sign of tape hiss, vinyl clicks, etc. Sounds like Loudworks somehow
got the master recordings. Plus, the added bonus of a live set recorded at
The Oasis in Sacramento California, December 28th, 1983, before the release
of Tooth And Nail. Limited edition of 200.
