The AllMusic Guide adds. . .
After he was fired from Iron Maiden for erratic behavior, Paul Di'Anno was impossible to quiet down: he founded a sling of projects and solo bands, some which lasted the blink of an eye (Gogmagog): for example, this eponymous 1984 debut as Di'Anno is a stab at contemporary Pop/Rock derivative of past Badfinger, The Cars and Electric Light Orchestra.
Ripper's Notes
When Paul Di'Anno was fired from Iron Maiden due to his drug problems, it was no surprise to anyone that he'd continue in the music business. What did surprise people, was this album. It, as the AMG review notes, is completely different than the Maiden sound that helped define Heavy Metal. Also, no surprise that this album was a huge flop, and was essentially out of print immediately after release. It's never even been havily bootlegged, until now.
This disc sounds fantastic, either Loudworks somehow got ahold of the masters, or they did a flawless job cleaning up the sound.
The first 10 tracks comprise the original album, while track 11 is the B-Side of the 'Flaming Heart' single, 12-15 from a live broadcast, and 16 from a live video (the artwork provides more details).
Paul did eventually get the solo sound right, with the first Battlezone album that followed two years after this record. Find it if you can.
