Biography...

Eazy-E (наст. имя Erіс Linn Wright) посути, явился автором жанра Gangsta-rap, основатель первого лейбла на Западном побережье, участник и создатель культовой рэп-группы «N.W.A.»

Эрик Райт был исключён из средней школы и начал зарабатывать деньги торговлей наркотиками. На выручку был основан музыкальный лейбл Ruthless Records. Когда ещё два члена Ruthless, Dr. Dre и Ice Cube написали «Boyz-N-The-Hood», была сформирована группа «„N.W.A.“», куда кроме Дре и Айс Кьюба вошли DJ Yella и MC Ren.

За сравнительно короткий период Ruthless Records выпустили альбомы N.W.A and the Posse (1987 год), Straight Outta Compton (1988 год) и сольный диск Eazy-E Eazy-Duz-It (также 1988 год). Было продано 2 миллиона копий альбома, что сделало его дважды платиновым. В этом альбоме присутствовали хиты «We Want Eazy» и «Eazy-Er Said Than Dunn» (ремикс «Boyz-n-the-Hood», ещё одного хита, также был включён). Продюсерами альбома выступили Dr. Dre and DJ Yella.

Через несколько лет в группе появились разногласия. Первым ушел Ice Cube, затем создатель нового лейбла Сьюдж Найт позвал на свой лейбл Dre. Происшедшее не выбило Eazy из седла. Несмотря на то, что альбом NWA «Efil4zfagin» («перевертыш» фразы Niggaz 4 Life), где Eazy-E стал фронтменом команды, не пользовался большим успехом и в некотором смысле оказался шагом назад, Ruthless Records продолжал свое существование и дал путевку в жизнь замечательной группе из Кливленда Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. Но после выпуска слабого мини-альбома «It’s On (Dr. Dre) 187um Killa» с очередным плевком в сторону Dre, значимость Eazy как музыкального деятеля опустилась до критической отметки.

Dre покинул NWA, чтобы сформировать свой лэйбл Death Row Records вместе с Suge Knight в начале 1992.
