Originally released in 1994 on Sven Väth's Harthouse label, The Ambush LP remains one of the most distinctive entries in Oliver Lieb’s extensive catalogue. Released under his The Ambush alias, the album stepped away from the melodic language that defined much of his work at the time and explored a deeper dialogue between tribal percussion, spacious ambience and hypnotic rhythmic movement.
For this remastered edition on Superstition Records, Oliver Lieb returned to the original recordings and carefully reworked the album using modern analogue mastering equipment while preserving the character that made the original so enduring. Rather than changing its identity, the new master reveals greater depth, clarity and detail, allowing the intricate percussion, evolving atmospheres and spacious production to emerge with renewed presence. More than three decades after its first release, The Ambush LP still feels remarkably self-contained, offering an alternative perspective on the electronic music of its era and a reminder of how confidently Oliver Lieb was already shaping his own musical language.
